SF and Users:
I am trying to setup one employee (ServiceUser) to have their own login to the control panel but also the ability to "edit products", however, all the products say "TEST" when the user is logged in.
I have ServiceUser permissions all set to FULL along with the individual settings to FULL.
Is there another setting that I'm missing?
Please advise. Thanks.

The old SF policy was that all new products have by default permission to be modified by Users only, so if you have created your products long time ago then when you edit a product you will notice that the "Access Granted To" is "User".
If you want to grant access to service users then you have to change this property to be "ServiceUser". If you want all products to be changed with a single shot then you can contact your acc rep and they can execute a query against your database that does that and it should take no more than 10 mins. _________________ Stanley Stanev

Stan and SF:
How can I enable a "Service User" to change a "Payment Method" available for a specific "User".
For example, we'd like our service user to be able to turn on the "check" payment method when entering "check" orders and then the ability to turn it off when completed.
Please advise.
Thank you.

I am sorry, but service users cannot access users because they are lower in the hierarchy. Here are the different roles, SF does not allow a user with lower role to access the user with higher role:
- Chief Admin
- Admin
- User
- Service User
- Vendor _________________ Stanley Stanev

Stan:
I'm trying to setup a "user" for this feature. When I try to login to this user I get the following message:
Access Denied (Local Access Restricted)
Please advise. Thanks.

Stan:
I'm not trying to access any feature yet because I haven't been able to login...I am getting this message when I try to login to user "profanshop".
Is the "password" locked or something? I can't change it to try a different password.
Let me know.
Thanks. |

Stan:
Thanks, I got logged in to that user. It looks like I can't do what I thought.
Let me give you an example:
I want an employee to have full access but NOT the ability:
Change Templates
Delete/Disable/Edit Products
Delete/Disable/Edit Categories
Edit Thanks Page
Regenerate
I'd figure this is a pretty basic permission login for an employee. Is this not available?
Let me know. Thanks.

If you want your employee to manage User roles then you have to make it one level above and that could be Admin. Then you can set up permissions to that Admin to be able to access only the specific features/screens.
If the employee has to be able to manage ChiefAdmin roles then you have to make it ChiefAdmin with appropriate access. _________________ Stanley Stanev

If I create an "admin" then it's seen as a new "USER" and we'll have to add to our pricing package? |

I think you are right. We have plans to allow customers to create ChiefAdmin and Admin users that cannot create their own stores, but just manage other users and then you can create many of them for free. Currently, those users are not free because they can create and manage their own stores. I will probably have to push to allow what I described soon. _________________ Stanley Stanev

Stan:
Yes, it would be nice to have the staff be able to manage certain aspects of the platform with their own login and customized permissions. The current SF setup does not allow that, therefore, everybody is signing in using the ChiefAdmin login which lets them access many more features than needed. Also, allows them to edit/delete/regenerate which keeps me up at night
If you need anything from us to make this happen, let us know.

I agree, that is why we plan to allow you to create another ChiefAdmin or Admin with no-store generation capabilities, so the user is for free, and setup some permissions to what functionality the user has access to. I hope we can work on this soon. Thanks. _________________ Stanley Stanev

Just to let you know that this feature is coming with the next v8.13 to allow you to create unlimited users of any type that are not able to generate their own stores, but perform other activities.
- NEW: Ability to create users of ANY role to be able to generate or not generate online stores. Users that are not able to generate are free, so the improvement allows unlimited free Admin users to be created in order to play just management/affiliate/seller roles.
Enjoy,
